Home Office Revamp

For this project, our client wanted to transform their home office into a bright and welcoming space that offered adequate storage and room to display their vinyl records and record player. They aimed to achieve this without a significant budget and by reusing their existing desk.

Design Approach:

1. Color Palette:
   • To create a bright and inviting atmosphere, we utilized the existing paint and flooring colors. The light and neutral tones provided a perfect backdrop for the new elements we introduced.
2. Storage Solutions:
   • Maximizing storage was essential for functionality. We collaborated with a local shop to handmake custom shelving for the vinyl records, adding a unique and personal touch. Floating shelves above the side board were used to display records, and the side board unit provided additional storage. Storage boxes and baskets kept the space organized and clutter-free.
3. Lighting:
   • Proper lighting was crucial to enhance the brightness of the room. We introduced a combination of natural and artificial lighting, including a large window for ample daylight and LED desk lamps with adjustable brightness for task lighting.
4. Furniture & Layout:
   • The existing desk was repurposed and complemented with ergonomic additions, such as a comfortable chair and desk accessories. We arranged the layout to create a flow that highlights the display of vinyl records while ensuring a functional workspace. A new area rug was selected to add warmth and comfort to the space, while still allowing the computer chair to function seamlessly.
5. Decor & Accents:
   • To add personality and warmth, we incorporated decorative elements such as framed photography, potted plants, and wall decor. These accents not only made the space more inviting but also reflected the client's personal style. The carefully chosen furniture and accessories added to the overall aesthetic and functionality of the room.

Results: The revamped home office is now a bright, welcoming, and functional space that meets the client's needs without breaking the bank. The strategic use of existing elements, coupled with new lighting, furniture, and accessories, transformed the room into an inspiring and organized workspace. The handmade shelves for vinyl records add a unique and personal touch, making the space truly one-of-a-kind.
